A few days in God's Country
I've been, I've seen, I'm back, I'm inspired! Dublin, Ireland!

Each year Tom from Harrogate, an English 'Zimbabwe-fan', and I do a yearly weekend away. First to Northern Ireland then the Yorkshire Dales and this time to Dublin to see Jack Johnson perform live.
I arrived in Ireland early on Wednesday morning and spent a few hours at the airport using the time to catch up on letter writing; whilst hanging out there I bumped into Cillian Murphy (He has acted in Red Eye, Intermission, Batman and Breakfast on Pluto), such a nice surprise! That evening Tom and I enjoyed a pint at the funky Zanzibar bar along the River Liffey before joining the young masses to sing along with JJ ... wow, what a gig, it was so relaxing but he managed to throw in lots of banter and mix in some Cat Stevens plus White Stripes lyrics into his tunes. What a chilled out and sound guy! The very next day one of Jack's college friends from Santa Monica checked in at the youth hostel and was our room-mate, rubbing cheeks with the famous!
Yesterday we took a train down the coast to Bray, it was raining so we had lunch then spent not even 2 minutes on the beach, took a photo and headed back to Dublin. Watched Walk the Line and I'm a converted Johny Cash fan! Last night after a dinner at Wagamama (when is a branch opening in Scotland????) we heading to the pub and ofcourse being in Ireland we were chating to others within minutes. Met some wonderful people, had a surprisingly honest and deep converstation with Gerry who's in his 50ties, I recall asking him seriously 'are you happy Gerry?' and visa-versa. Obviously it was after a few pints of guinness and bulmers. Later we headed off to another pub with 2 Irish guys, one of whom had spent a few months in Zimbabwe and loved it, also India! We danced in a pub that didn't have a dancefloor, dedicated a Bob Marley song to Zim (well actually we made up the lyrics and tune so Bob's name could just be put to it), basically had good craic!
Photos lovely Photos
Long live the Lovely Irish!
(Dude .. Hope you're having a super and sunny holiday in L'Afrique du Suid!)
